About Libby

Libby Sheppard started her career as an educationist in the Visual Arts teaching secondary and tertiary art students in a variety of fields from ceramics, through to painting, printmaking, textiles, fashion illustration & design.

Having majored in textiles initially the natural progression was a further stint in studies majoring in printmaking, creating not only serigraphic prints but also lithographs, etchings and relief prints.

Having created an alternate art course for secondary art students for the state, Libby went on to become State Moderator for Visual and Performing Arts (Art, Music & Drama) which meant overseeing the conduction of  workshops for educating secondary teachers in the assessment of consistent state standards in the arts as well as creating for art teachers, advise manuals & descriptors for state standards.

A complete change of career saw Libby once again “ hands - on” designing jewelry for one of Perth’s leading boutique jewellers.

Two years later, another complete change into the world of giftware and tableware. This saw Libby in China and  for a number of  years working very closely with various Chinese factories  assisting them to create her designs in; resin, glass, wrought iron and predominantly tabletop (dinner-sets, cup & saucer  sets, tea sets and serving ware) – all in various materials form  Dolomite through to Stoneware, Ironware, Porcelain and Fine Bone China). The products eventually were sold throughout the UK, USA, New Zealand and of course throughout Australia into major department stores like Myers or David Jones and smaller independent gift stores.

Today, Libby continues to produce the artwork for the Libby Sheppard Design range. She enjoys the lifestyle of south west Western Australia, which inspires much of her work.
